Dr. Walter C. Taylor III, MD graduated medical school from Hahnemann University, Philadelphia, PA in 1983 and completed a family medicine residency at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA in 1986 and a sports medicine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, OH in 1987.
In 1994, Dr. Taylor joined the Department of Family Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. He has achieved the academic rank of Assistant Professor of Family Medicine in the Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education. Dr. Taylor serves as the Program Director for both the Family Medicine Residency and the Sports Medicine Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Florida
Dr. Taylor served as a tournament physician for the Women’s Tennis Association Tour (WTA) Bausch and Lomb Tennis Tournament, Amelia Island, FL from 1999 – 2008, and Head Tournament Physician from 2006 – 2008. In 2009 and 2010 he served as Head Tournament Physician for the MPS Group Championships, Ponte Vedra Beach. From 1999 to 2003 Dr. Taylor helped coordinate and provide pre-participation physicals for the ATP Tour. Since 2009 he has served as Medical Advisor for the WTA Tour.
