Paul E. Caldwell III, MD attended medical school at the Medical College of Virginia, where he also completed his internship and orthopaedic surgery residency. Following his residency, Dr. Caldwell completed a sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery fellowship at Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Jackson, Mississippi, under the direction of a former ORV fellow, Dr. Felix “Buddy” Savoie. Dr. Caldwell returned to Richmond and joined Tuckahoe Orthopaedic Associates, Ltd. He is president of Orthopaedic Research of Virginia, where he is also actively involved in the education of orthopaedic fellows as well as research. Dr. Caldwell is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.

Dr. Caldwell takes a very active role in the Arthroscopy Association of North America as chairman of the AANA Live committee and also serves on the technology and education committees. Dr. Caldwell teaches a biannual shoulder course at the Orthopaedic Learning Center in Chicago as a master instructor. Dr. Caldwell is a former reviewer for the Arthroscopy journal and past president of the Richmond Orthopaedic Club. Dr. Caldwell continues to publish new arthroscopic techniques that have recently been featured in Arthroscopy Techniques. Dr. Caldwell played college tennis at Wake Forest University and teams up with Dr. George Branche to take care of ATP and WTA players in Washington DC at the annual Citi Open tournament.
