The STMS family has lost one of its own. It is with a very heavy heart that we announce that our esteemed and beloved immediate Past President and friend Dr. Javier Maquirrian has passed away after a several year struggle with a brain tumor.

Many of you knew him to be an amazing inspiration to STMS and tennis medicine, but also just an amazing father, husband and physician. He was the chief doctor for the Argentinian Tennis Federation, a Davis Cup physician, a philanthropist, an orthopaedic surgeon, a researcher, an author, the president of STMS from 2011-2015 as well as the editor-in-chief of the journal during that time. We will find the appropriate way to honor him for his years of dedicated service to STMS and the tennis medicine world.
